Dr Kevin Cheng

Cardiologist

Dr Kevin Cheng is a cardiologist and cardiac imaging specialist with expertise across a broad spectrum of adult cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, cardiovascular risk assessment, heart failure, valvular heart disease, hypertension, and dyslipidaemia. He is fluent in Mandarin.

Kevin graduated from Monash University in 2009 and completed advanced cardiology training at the Royal Hobart Hospital, MonashHeart, and Eastern Health. He subsequently undertook a fellowship at MonashHeart, where he received subspecialty training in advanced echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, and cardiac CT.

Kevin is currently working in a number of private cardiology clinics across south eastern Melbourne. He is part of the cardiac imaging service at Knox Private Hospital. He reports over 1000 echos and over 1000 cardiac CTs annually. Kevin is also an accredited independent medical examiner with WorkSafe Victoria and the TAC.

Kevin has a strong academic and research focus in cardiovascular imaging. He completed his PhD at the Victorian Heart Hospital, investigating the role of cardiac CT in identifying and treating coronary artery inflammation. His research has been supported by competitive funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Avant Foundation. He was a finalist for the Imaging Prize at the 2023 Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand Annual Scientific Meeting and is currently a Senior Adjunct Research Fellow at the Victorian Heart Institute.

Outside work, he enjoys cooking, gardening, travelling, photography, and especially spending time with his wife and two overly energetic boys.
